Zulie I too have written about this insidious practice. Here in Australia we have a program called 4 Corners, where the environmental truths are uncovered. The plastics industry was a recent one, and about America in this instance.

I had already read about our plastcs being offloaded to China, shocking to say the least. But then to learn about the lies around REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE, was too much for a teacher who sang all the ditties with her class, sorted, made sure waste was put into the appropriate bins. To find out it was a big fat lie just to make us all feel kinda comfortable about the continued production of the material. was just outrageously angering. Actually they weren't just continuing. They were ramping it up!

It's hard to know where we go from here. Everything is made of plastic, containers, clothes, paint, carpets, car parts, credit cards...the list goes on. We even have environmentally-friendly plastic wood with which we make verandas that will never rot...a must-have!!

I've often wonder if the pundits have children, or grandchildren, and if so, do they care about the planet they are leaving for them?

I guess we all need to say to ourselves that we can address this in ways however small. I still sort rubbish. Goodness knows why, but I do.
