Having never been to Alaska, but loving how it looks, I have to say I really don't know.
I remember being stranded in Glencoe just as the light was fading ... was hitch-hiking in the days when it was deemed safe, and I still remember that feeling of not being in charge. It was scary.
I think all mountains are somewhat scary, alluring, but you wouldn't bet your bottom dollar on being safe.
Maybe I've read too many books on climbing Everest. 😁
