Who Can Resist The Sound Of Children Having Fun? Their Laughter So Easily Becoming Ours…
until an entitled prick of a neighbor knocks…
Spend time with a bunch of children, and I challenge you not to be buoyed by their endless ability to find happiness in whatever they are doing. The unfiltered ways in which they think and respond, make them a joy to be around.
At least, that’s been my experience!
Children also have this amazing knack of making neighborly connections, and breaking down the barriers, subtle as they might be, between adults living close by.
My neighbors are all busy with their work lives, and tend to keep very much to themselves. They are friendly, and willing to help out, but we don’t get into each other’s hair. And that is perfectly fine.
Taking bins out, emptying post boxes and looking out for foreign, maybe suspicious, activity when necessary, are the stuff that harmonious neighborhood relationships are forged on.
And that’s how Anna felt about where she lived. Everyone was friendly and helpful, no more no less…until school holidays came along.
