What I wanted o say Klara, was that I can think of two people who suffered in much the same way. The notion of HAVING to get married, very prevalent in the era. What on earth were people thinking? The suffering goes on,and the casualties are not the decision makers, but the young women who are pregnant, and their children.

A colleague many years ago spoke abut getting pregnant and fronting up to her mother in tears. Her mother responded: This is my grandchild we're talking about. We will find a way. That baby is now a successful lawyer. She married the father and they went on to have five more children.

Yet you and I know it doesn't always work out and so many lives are affected.
