What a great post, and the perfect lesson. It sure took away the pain of my high-school lessons, and yet, back then, I enjoyed writing sonnets.

Having said that, my best poetry forms to teach are that of Dr. Seuss...just allowing children to repeat, or veer off course to start a different set of rhymes was pure liberation
