Well now, Harry, you got the right person to edit your story. I have been on a plane where we were all thrown from our seats, broken bones, and lots of other injuries, and the sheer terror of our plunging to our death, lives with me today.

The plane seemed to fall out of the sky, shunted back and forth, back and forth, then plunged again, the pilot too intent on righting it to explain what was happening. I really believed I was going to die.

That, at least here in Australia, was the last time anyone was allowed to fly with seat belts undone.

The business man beside me just kept bobbing up and down, his poor bald head ripped to pieces. Eventually I managed to grab his jacket and he was able to secure himself.

The screaming and praying will be with me forever. I am now a very nervous flyer. Did I mention this was unforeseen turbulence?

Some years later, when my husband was working in the Philippines, I traveled back home alone. The plane sat for several hours on the runway, and eventually a mechanic came in with a tiny screwdriver. Of course I had no way of exiting the plane, but eventually it took off and I relaxed. A few hours into the flight and lights were flashing and we were warned of danger. Can you imagine? We all sat there, wound up like clocks. Nothing happened.

Each time we fly I have to reassure myself that plane crashes are rare!!! I'm with Jenny!
