We were in Queensland when borders were closing down due to Covid. We were house hunting.

That came to an abrupt ending and we decided to head back to Canberra.

My husband said he would have to duck into his favourite barber for a cut, just in case....

He came out and said 'She's happy to do yours too.'

"I don't think so," I answered.

"But you always love how she does mine. She is good."

I thought about that and duly fronted up for just a cut.

As it happened it was the best cut I'd had in a long time. Not just that, but she was so diligent, gave me the best cut ever, and charged me $35 which I argued about. Still, she refused an offer of more money.

By contrast in Penang, a hotel salon recommended, charged me the equivalent of $300 Aussie dollars.

I was so shocked, the cut and colour being the worst I have experienced ever.

I no longer colour my hair, but have favourite local hairdresser who charges me $40 and it's always terrific.
