We lived for a while on Bougainville Island, in PNG, where gurias (small earthquakes) are commonplace.

The first time one happened I thought our washing machine was out of balance.

But later we experienced quite a few that were like the earth just moving under our feet.

This was a little unsettling initially, but we learned to embrace them.
