This was my reply to RC Hammond in that post, Valerie.

Ralph, as you know, I was a serious runner for years, but gradually my knees hurt too much and I had to stop. A short time later, and looking for answers to my daughter's medical condition, I totally changed my family's diet. Anything processed, factory-made, was tossed (and there wasn't much of that!), I cleaned my pantry of any 'foods' I didn't understand the labelling of, and I swear, some three weeks later, no sign of inflammation. My knees no longer hurt, and to this day, they still don't.

I'm sure there are people like Denis who walk around seemingly unaffected by Snickers or the likes, but that's not to say they never will.

There are slim people walking around who are addicted to junk, yet they show no signs of it ... they remain slim and seemingly well.

I taught one of those people, a student who never ever had fresh food in her lunch box, yet she was pencil-slim.

She loved to deride those who had good food in their lunch boxes.

BUT... when she went into hospital to have her wisdom teeth removed, (an overnight stay in hospital) she developed sepsis and almost lost her life. Think she was in hospital for a month!

Connection??? I'm not a doctor, but I have my thoughts! I know how avoiding foods I had no agency over, changed my family.

I believe the people who eat junk and become obese, are the lucky ones. Their bodies are screaming and railing against the abuse. Some people listen. Some become even more sick.

You can pick them in the crowd.

When I was a child there were no fat people. Some had heavier builds than others, but I don't remember obese people. Now they are the norm.

And by the way, we're not talking just sugar here. The food giants employ scientists to come up with 'foods' that are both exciting and addictive so you want more, and more of it.
