This is such a moving piece for me, Paul. It could be a case of out of sight, out of mind, but I think not. Churches have their fair share of gossips. It keeps their ranks in place,but my dad used to say: If they're talking about me, they're leaving someone else alone. It's not a bad way of looking at things.

Still, amongst the parishioners of your former parishes, there will be many who miss you. They won't be among the elite, they won't have power, but it's my guess they miss you a lot.

Why aren't the new priests reaching out? They should be instigating an invitation for whatever. It doesn't have to be a feast.

Any way, their loss is Medium's gain. My penny's worth for the day. :)
