The professor should know better than that!

My daughter is now a grad student in St. Paul, Minnesota, a city that is more racially diverse. Yet, the moment a professor tells the students to get into groups, the other girls would start beckoning their friends to join them, excluding my daughter. Although the city is racially diverse, the grad program is not.

The professor should know better than that! I would never allow this to happen. You have to ask them to form groups (with caveats).
