The Process of Becoming Minimalists
Accidental as it was
Our story began a few years ago, on a cold, dreary winter’s day, when my husband and I asked ourselves why we had resisted the move to a warmer clime.
We could offer no plausible explanation and so, much more conscientiously than before, we opened our hearts to the reasons why. Neither of us likes the cold.
And in no time we’d decided to sell our home and move north.
And so we did!
And we lived happily ever after!
Oh if only it were that easy!
And I’m glad it wasn’t, because we learned so much about ourselves in the process of saying goodbye to a city that we’d called home for a long time.
Leaving friends we’d deal with later.
But selling our home was a much more emotional experience than we could ever have bargained for.
Making a decision to sell and acting on it, are two very opposing beasts. The decision is the easy part, the delivery so much harder. Questions like where to start, what to do first, was it worth putting in new floors when in reality some double-glazed windows would have provided so much added comfort, and at what stage would we decide we were spending too much, raged.
