That's the best story ever!
Like you, I had no wish for a fancy ring, so we went to an antique shop and we found a cute ruby ring the price of which befitted my personality, that is, a person who would forget to really look after something expensive.
Year later I was out running and tripped over the remnant of what was once a bus stop.
I smashed my front teeth and found my ring all mangled.
I had a case against council for leaving the stump, but a lawyer phoned me and said he'd fight me every inch of the way. To be honest I couldn't be bothered.
Our daughter's friend's father, a Vietnamese jeweller, knowing the story, made it into a gorgeous ring for not a lot. I loved it. What a story that little ring had and continues to have. I have just lost one of the stones! I don't deserve rings. I don't deserve jewellery to be honest.
Another friend's fiance made her a beautifully carved wooden ring. When asked when she was getting a real ring, she looked at him askance.
"What's not a ring about this ring?" she asked
LOVE your ring, and your children will love the story even more. 🤣🤣🤣
