That was a delightful read. Amazing that people can produce really lovely food under conditions that would challenge most of us.

We lived on Bougainville Island in PNG for a few years. Our friends invited us to a mumu, which was meat, vegetables, fresh coconut milk and spices wrapped in banana leaves.

This was then put into a ground pit and covered with hot rocks, and baked for hours.

I felt sure they food wold never cook, but I was wrong, and, it was delicious.
