Thank you for writing this, Natalie. It's a beautiful love story. It never ceases to amaze me about the level of ignorance that exists among us as humans. There's an old folk song called The Colour Bar, the last verse of this is...it refers to children, once friends, now fighting

It's not because they feel that they are different after all.

It’s because there hear the trumpeting of hate and its loud call.

It's because their parents tell them there's a difference in their skin,

And that mixing up the colour is to them, a mortal sin.

I wrote about 'twins' here. Kids don't see colour. But they sure understand the qualities their peers have, the ones that make them bond, the ones that seal friendship.
