Kindness is the fundamental of human emotions

Katie Michaelson has done some brainstorming for those of us who want some daily writing inspiration.

To that end she’s come up with a list of words that hopefully will inspire some stories in us, the first one on the topic of kindness.

Now that’s a topic dear to my heart. It really doesn’t take much to be kind.

The harsh reality is, if we can’t be kind we really have no worthy place in society.

Still, sometimes kindness can be difficult to follow through on, especially if you are working with a super-wealthy company that doesn’t condone kindness, a company that has a heart of stone when it comes to people down on their luck.

I was reading a story recently about a young man standing in line to order food at a McDonald’s cafe.

In front of him was a woman clearly down on her luck who ordered a cup of hot water. This was refused.

Imagine! Just a cup of water, a fundamental of life.

I won’t judge the McDonald’s assistant. I’m sure rules are well-instilled in employees.

Horrified, the man ended up buying this woman some food and coffee for the moment, but he also sat with her and listened to her story…
