Some years ago, here in Canberra, we experienced a serious drought. It was scary. Council gave us timers for showers (2 minutes). We managed one minute showers. We flushed toilets only when we needed to. We saved all tiny drops of water for pot plants. We didn't water our gardens.

We caught shower water.

When the drought was over, our garden sprang back to life naturally.

We have never gone back to long showers.

We rarely water our garden, if ever, yet it's healthy and prolific.

We have no lawns and we're in the process of transitioning to wildflowers.

I wash clothes once a week...two loads, one for whites and one for coloureds.

We have a dishwasher. It is used once a week, if that.
