The forest floor was still damp with last night’s rain. I was enjoying a peaceful evening of nothingness, a light breeze and a slight chance of storms, when a weather alert blared through my phone. (Yes, I brought my iPhone.) Tornado watch. (That’s why!) No biggie, but I only camp with a hammock, a few tarps, and prayers. I started to panic when the winds picked up. Tall trees swayed. Lightning crashed violently nearby. Hail pelted my makeshift shelter before another alert came through. Tornado warning! I braced myself until it was over. I thought for sure I was toast.
