Shameem, Thank you, as always, for responding. You know, I think if children can see money in action, then the corner store that sells all those colorful lollies would have far less appeal.

I used to do this math activity to show the power of doubling. The students would offer their services at home for nothing, initially, then one cent for the second night, doubling each day, for one month. When we were doing the activity in class, they were jumping out of their skins in excitement. By week two their parents (who'd had t sign a contract for payment), owed them so much money.

Some parents actually signed the 'contract'. The savvy ones didn't of course! Best arithmetic lesson!
