One thing I worry about is the person who is a victim of processed foods.

There are people walking around who are enormously overweight, of shapes that I never saw when I was growing up.

I met one huge young man at my local clinic. He took up almost the whole width of the corridor.

NONE of this weight gain happened before the advent of industrial food.

There are many who eat huge amounts of industrial food, scientifically designed to be moreish by the way, and don't get fat. I taught one. She used to boast about how much she could eat and still stay skinny.

Unfortunately she almost lost her life when she went into hospital for day surgery. She contracted sepsis. She had nothing to fight with.

So with respect Michael, putting on weight is not always a case of calories in calories out.

Check the work of Gary Taubes, a journalist who, like me, was a marathon runner but couldn't lose weight. I think you will find it interesting. https://www.dietdoctor.com/video/podcast/episode-62-gary-taubes
