Leonard Tillerman’s false teeth saga, embarrassing, but funny, is the inspiration behind this story.

As with Leonard, what I plan to tell you happened a long time ago, and the situation, and how it turned out, will never ever be forgotten.

Once an upper primary teacher, it took me a few years to realize I found much greater joy in teaching junior school students.

As you’d imagine that was not all beer and skittles, for all sorts of reasons, but my job was largely joyful and fulfilling.

What I discovered quickly was that young girls tended to be somewhat tactile. To be up close and personal with their teacher, using used their seemingly-acceptable massage skills if they happened to nab a front-row spot on the floor, was everything.

Massage of shoulders, legs, even arms, took place during story time.

Now don’t even try to imagine for one moment, a bevy of girls plying their massage skills. It was never like that.

It was innocent and childlike.

I found this a little unsettling at first, but other staff members assured me it was a rite of passage, just something they liked to do.

I personally managed to whittle the experience down to one student at a time, and only for…
