It’s every mother’s worst nightmare, that dread when they realize their child is missing.

There’s a feeling of helplessness, and questions raging in your mind…What did I do wrong? Wasn’t the arrangement…?

It happened to me. I lost my daughter for a couple of hours in a crowded shopping mall. I had been in a department store paying a bill. Usually I would have taken her hand and walked her out of the store. I know she walked with me, but not holding my hand, and suddenly she was nowhere to be seen.

As you can imagine, I searched the store. Nobody had seen her, so I asked security to call her name. No response. They suggested I wait with them, but in blind panic I took off, looking everywhere I could think of.

I feared for what might have happened to her, imagined the worst, and so the tears flowed.

I must have looked frantic because a woman stopped me and asked what was wrong. Was I looking for a little girl by any chance?

I was!

With blond curls and blue eyes?

Yes!

‘Does she like rocking chairs?’ she asked. My eyes told answered in the affirmative. ‘Then I think you will find her…
