One of the benefits of not living alone, is having someone to share your anxiety and scanxieties. I have a friend who refers to these. She was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer at 19. She's now, 47 (I think), and though her life is often spent in hospital, she remains upbeat through it all. Though she can't work, she spends much of her time advocating for women with rare cancers. She would have been Australian of the Year a couple of years ago, but that would have had her working in the position, something she could not have had the energy for.
Having got to four years cancer-free, hope is there for you Lynn.
