Oh my goodness, did that ring a bell, and bring a tear to my eyes, Mary!!
Despite all the running and walking I have done, I have never been able to stretch the legs, neaten the ankles, or ever stride out in a snazzy pair of bathers.
On one occasion when I was bemoaning my lot, my mother said to me, "Well I wouldn't mind your legs."
I never ever complained again.
MY legs have been a best and most reliable friend. In all I have demanded of them they have never let me down.
As for my mum...she had polio!
