My SIL went through years of this. My BIL was a Professor of Mathematics, and in the early days his level of frustration about gaps in his understanding found him behaving in ways that were at odds with his gentle personality.

There are no winners where dementia is concerned, none at all.I really feel your pain.

Perhaps you will soon need to make the decision you are all dreading.
