My niece's daughter has just taken up a music position. She only got a one-year contract. That doesn't sound enticing, does it?
I was shocked when I heard she had applied to study music. Apart from some singing tuition, she had no real musical experience, and I knew she would be competing with people who'd studied for years.
Amazingly she creamed off so many awards, and yet, she didn't get a permanent appointment. Now that tells you a lot, I think. How the think they can hold on to teachers with such tenuous offerings I have no idea.
If only people could get married every day of the week. That might shift her thinking. She sings at weddings and the likes and gets 200 pounds per gig. And she doesn't have to put up with rogue behavior. :)
