My husband berates me for the clean up I do before we leave a holiday place, to which I say, cleaning up should be little more than changing the bed sheets, vacuuming and dusting.

Even the bed sheets are turned down neatly.

I once rented an AIRBNB and was totally shocked.

First of all we had free parking (in the street in the city!).

We had to go up two flights of stairs...no lifts...porting our laptops and luggage.

The bed was made up with a doona cover that had seen better days, unironed, and the sheets, unmatching, were much the same.

Free breakfasts meant cereal that had already been opened, and long-life milk. The coffee was instant, same deal, already spooned out, the traces of a wet spoon clearly there.

She had a five-star rating. I complained. She blocked me, hence the impressive rating.

another time when we were just looking for a place, we came across a place that we weren't sure about. AITBNB kept reminding us if we didn't commit the booking would be lost.

We didn't 'commit'. But then we found they had taken a sizeable amount of money from our account.

It too ka lot of arguing, sending copies of the to and fro emails, and much determination on my husband's part, to get the money back.

We have not used AIRBNB since. I suspect they hope people won't take such experiences further.
