My friend used to look after our daughter after school.

One day I picked her up and she was in the foulest of moods.

When she got home she threw her school bag in a corner announcing the life wasn't fair.

Eventually she declared that it wasn't fair that my friend's 4 kids got everything they wanted ... bags of clothes from Sydney, bags from Adelaide and ... and she had to wear NEW clothes.

What she truly resented was that she didn't get to be part of the mannequin parade that had just taken place.

I wish that longing for other people's cast-offs had continued. It would have saved a few stoushes.
