My first response to this is, you only have to read John Grisham's books to know the law is an ass. I know they're only books, but as a writer myself (not in his league), everything I write is based on personal experience.

The oppression of black Americans and the huge incarceration of very young Aboriginals here in Australia, I find distressing.

As a teacher quite a number of my students over the years talked of their policeman fathers getting other people off (because they could), and I really had to bite my tongue.

So how do we change this Dan? How can these less-than-honest officers of the law, be called out? I'm damned if I know. What I do know is they don't deserve a job, let alone to be in positions of upholding the law.

With the political will, this can be changed, but then, we'd have to clean up politicians before that could possibly happen!

Great to meet you Dan. I hope you share more of these stories. Thank you.
