Katy, some years ago, when Canberra was in drought and we were scared even to flush toilets, we were given timers by council. Two-minute showers became our lifestyle. I have never gone back to long showers, much as I love them.

Even our garden was left unwatered. Interestingly, we hardly lost a plant.

It was such a scary time.
