Julian thanks so much for this lengthy, spot-on response.

I didn't write my article to denigrate doctors, and I do hope that's reflected in what I said.

I know quite a number of GPs and they do a terrific job within the determined parameters, but most of them are burnt out and despondent. Most won't last through to retirement.

I understand the medical history side of things, and though that is vital for people with comorbidity issues, for myself I work hard to keep myself fit and well.

Sure, it doesn't protect me from everything, aging in particular, but I want to choose whether I consume any pills. They all come with side issues.

There is huge pressure here to be constantly checking an individual and finding new things to treat.

Yes, we have become such a sick society.. Yesterday I saw at least four HUGE individuals with shapes that were never around when I was growing up, the result of the offerings of the food industry and the 'science' that keeps them addicted to non-food food. I feel too sad for words. These people are victims.

The cards are well and truly stacked against GPs, and as you say, patients as well.

THANK YOU Julian. Really appreciate your thoughts on this.
