It’s All About Nutrition

Which doesn’t come in a packet

My daughter texted me this morning.

“Have I told you how I’ve been making Jett’s food from scratch?” she asked.

She had. Jett is her husband’s dog.

I texted back. “You mentioned it. Let me guess. He’s improved in health?”

“Improved? That’d be the understatement of the year. His breath is fresh, he’s energetic, he’s no longer constipated, and he doesn’t throw up all the time.

“He’s stopped licking his arthritic paws and does a happy dance when I’m getting his food ready.”

It made me think about my friends’ two dogs.

My friends were going overseas for five months and I took charge of the dogs.

Packets of dog food and large rolls of processed meat had been left for them to eat.

I noted that they each suffered from arthritis.

I couldn’t bear to continue to feed them this kind of food, so I wrote to my friends asking for permission to feed them a different diet, one I’d pay for myself. I mapped out how I intended to feed them.

When they returned they were delighted to see both dogs transformed.
