It was a reminder to me that NIMBY (Not In My Backyard) attitudes are well and alive everywhere.

Yes I see it alive and well here in Australia. Even some political groups are very much for things until they are too close to home, that is:NIMBY.

How we give people a fair go, I have no idea.
