Interestingly, Penny, I was talking to a friend recently. She was a mathematician and her adult children are well-educated, one a specialist doctor, the other a dentist.

She thinks the world is no worse today than it was way back in our childhood, that the mega-rich contribute so much financially to charities, that we've always had the rich and the poor, and so it went on.

I suddenly felt a huge amount of overwhelm. Where does one start in such a situation? I could have put together some reading for her but instead backed out of our chat pleading exhaustion (which was true to an extent as I'd been in the garden all day!).

I'm pretty sure it is true about the rich and their daily carbon footprints ... their private planes, and superyachts, just for starters.

I won't talk to her about the glamping. She wouldn't believe me. 😁
