Interestingly Caitlin's husband is also an electrician and they don't work together!
Her company is always in demand. Maybe in the future she will be challenged to employ males, but for now, it's okay.
I may write my story. It's not a story of victory, but were it to happen today, it would be.
My daughter is in IT, and at one stage she had this horrendous male boss. She is a gentle girl, and she was younger. She's also very competent.
This man berated so many women, having standing up fights with them. She, on the other hand quietly documented everything, kept every email exchange between them. She was prepared.
When things had got to a stage where she couldn't take it any more, she found another job, but took her case to HR before leaving. They were appalled and tried to convince her to stay.
Later, at her next position, her boss told her about this new manager they were thinking of employing.
Her eyes filled with tears. Reluctantly she shared her story about him.
"He's both a bully and a mysoginist," she said
"In that case," her boss replied. "He doesn't belong here."
Canberra is atill small enough for reputation to be everything.
