Interesting, Elizabeth. A number of years ago, friends invited us to dinner to tell us they they were splitting up.
I was so upset. The thing is, they held hands all through the night, assuring us they they loved each other in different ways, but they didn't want to remain married.
I just don't understand.
Then the wife of my cousin's son, decided that she didn't want to be married.
They are both successful lawyers, and they together had renovated his grandmother's home, on her parents' farm. They spent huge amounts of money on it because it was to be their forever home.
The house is now beautiful, and she lives happily with their two boys there.
He is renting in town, and she is happily doing what she wants to do.
Her parents are so angry. They see her as selfish.
The thing is, she has the spoils of their lives together, and at 45, successful lawyer or not, he now has to start all over again and real estate on the island is hugely expensive.
At no stage did he factor in their splitting up, and given that they only renovated a house, he has nothing.
Some things are too hard to fix.
'SINGLE' would suggest she is open to moving on.
Too sad, Elizabeth. :)
