Better than a thousand days of diligent study is one day with a great teacher.”

Penny was admiring a fine piece of street art when she noticed the spelling mistake. Should she just have ignored it, or did the teacher in her, compel her to make comment.

It’s funny that, isn’t it!

The mind is a strange piece of machinery.

She should have been admiring the art work, but somehow the spelling error took precedence.

Now, the only reason Penny is getting a mention here, apart from having read her story yesterday, is that she triggered a funny teaching story, about spelling, that I had almost forgotten about.

My friend Barbara was a teacher in my school. She was the librarian. She was also a thespian, so everything centered around drama…EVERYTHING!

This is her story

She had only just become single and with two children to care for, she was forced to take up relief teaching.
