I'm very respectful of stairs and those in your images are a no go for me, Janice.

Some years ago we did a difficult walk in the Blue Mountains in NSW. The walk to get to the falls was quite treacherous. We were jumping off boulders as tall as I am.

To get back was via a series of ladders pinned to the mountain.

It was Hobson's choice really, we go back the way we came and find a way around the boulders or we tackle the ladders. I was petrified.

We reluctantly chose the ladders.

When I looked down from the summit I was aghast that I had even done it.

We spoke to people thinking about doing the descent, and when we explained what was involved, every one of them turned back.

Of course after a beer and with bravado setting in, we assured each other we could do it again. We never did.
