I'm trawling through a book right now. The plot is clever, but the writing is somewhat tedious. ..descriptions of what people are wearing, and that of rooms that lend nothing to the story, suggest that the book could have been seriously shorter.

On the other hand, being arrested by beautiful prose is always worthwhile.
