I wrote a piece here about two boys in my class having a fight in the playground, and coming into class spitting venom at each other.

I seized on the opportunity to make a lesson out of it.

We had a class discussion about what it all meant...what did they think was happening? And eventually one student said it was bit like war...just the word I'd hoped they would come up with. like they both had to win...like they weren't listening to each other.

Thereafter, if anyone was mean to another I would hear...that's war!

An empathy test YES! Might have a few failures. 🤣🤣
