Our washing machine broke down (company's machine I should say) and we got maintenance out to fix it, which they did.

Unfortunately they took away the washing inside. Once again they took the contents of the machine, and with no way of buying more clothes, I was in trouble.

These incidents were carried out by what were called rascals, short nuggetty men from the highlands, not the Bougainville Islanders who were just lovely.
