I was wondering how to give you 5000 claps, Ruby, but sadly, 50 is as good as it gets.

There are so many other issues that I could include, but you've done a great job. You're in America and I am in Ozland, so things are probably a little different.

What is not different, is the presumption. Presumption of writing a report because you can, listening to an irate parent because he believed his child's words and actions without validating them...so many other things that always take OUR time, not paid time.

I could rant about many things, but just want to share this.

Some years ago, when I was on the P&F committee, one of the parents suggested that teachers needed to work longer hours...that they got too many holidays, teaching time was short, and so on.

So, the principal went back home and dragged out the school calendar form the previous year, noted all meetings, inservices attended, study undertaken by staff, meetings in holidays, study being conducted by individual teachers, and and so on.

He talked about the hours of report writing, teachers attending weekend competitions, and working at recess and lunchtimes for same competitions.

He concluded that we teachers got fewer holidays than Public Servants (Canberra, Public Service city), and that we were grossly underpaid,

That parents never offered up any criticism thereafter.
