I was a hash girl, up in PNG (women runners), and each week we'd go on mystery runs. Often we had to cross rope bridges that swung over rivers, high enough to kill us if they snapped. I learned to hold my breath and get over faster than anyone else. It was the only way I could do it. These bridges took us to the most spetacular parts of the island. I never quite ditched the fear, though, but harnessing it as best I could, was worth it.
