I taught many Asian students over the years, Debdutta, and I can't remember one who was not really clever.
But the pressure from family was inordinate. Not one parents wanted their child to be a writer, an actor, or a barista.
These children were destined to be doctors, lawyers, engineers, scientists and the likes. It made me wonder if there was any value put on their creative sides.
I love that you escaped the confines of expectation to do what you are essentially very good at, and that is writing.
Stay strong. :)
