I see much of this as vanity, reflecting on my personal life, and I always wonder why.

Reflecting upon it, aren’t we all, at some point or another, lured by our own metaphorical will-o’-the-wisps? Fleeting distractions that glitter and promise much but often divert us from our authentic paths? Life, in all its grandeur, is rife with such diversions. The allure of instant gratification, the shimmer of paths that seem easier, or the temptation to stray from our core values — these are the lights that can often lead us astray.
