I remember this event clearly, Gill.

The first is about a young English girl on holidays with her parents. She had studied tsunamis in school and warned her parents about all she saw and what she knew.

They warned people, but from memory, not many took heed, given the ocean from their perspective, was calm. Still, there were other things that should have served as a warning, the bird life disappearing, fro one.

The family move to higher ground, and lived.

There was also a young Australian couple on their honeymoon. He lost his life, and his young wife, thereafter, made it her annual practice to return and help the local people.

So sorry you lost your dad, but very happy your sister made it back. She was very lucky.

We were on holidays in Queensland at the time, and I remember watching on TV, the horrors unfolding, tears streaming down my cheeks.

Thank you for sharing.
