I read this story with much sadness, Lottie. When students come from disadvantage, scholarship or not, intellect or not, they can rarely be on a level playing field with those who come from privilege.

I wonder too, whether the parents regretted their reaction. You never know.

Theirs could have resulted in a loss they didn't plan for.

One thing I am certain of. Counselling should have been set up for both of you. You were both short-changed.
