I look back on my young life, as one of seven children, and though I never resented things, we girls did a lot of work around the house.
So we could all go to university, all but two, my mum went out to work as seamstress. She was a polio victim by the way, though never EVER allude to her as being a victim. She worked so hard to prove herself. And she did.
But we girls were the ones who picked up the slack, cooking dinner, taking washing off the line, and putting more on. Washing up after dinner.
Homework was done after that.
It's how things were and we never questioned.
