I have never suffered abuse, but tonight I watched a 4Corners program on the abuse and murder of Aboriginal women. Not only were they sickeningly abused by their partners, but the police did little to protect them. Many disappeared, murdered most likely, but again, nobody seemed to care.

What was uplifting is that, for the first time in all the years I have lived there, the women are fighting back.

To be honest Deb, you are lucky you saw the light. I think fear often stymies young women into inaction.
