Does anyone on Medium have the Charmaine Solomon South East Asian Cookbook?
The book I mentioned above is over forty years old.
It was once my bible.
In it I learned to do Asian roasts…have never done a British roast since! That’s how good the recipes are.
My family tried almost every recipe in the book. All were terrific.
One amazing dish I learned to cook was Lampries curry as a feast, so not just the curry itself, but all the little side dishes that go with it.
The instructions have you flipping back and forward to get each recipe.
Sounds very fiddly, I know, and it is, but I swear it is worth every hour you spend cooking it.
You have to make all these separate dishes, and then, you put them together in parcels. (You need to rent a friend for this. In my case I used my husband!).
Sadly, when we moved, I tossed the book as it had been splattered with spices and sauces. I am not a tidy cook!
Now the book is out of print.
